The Peppermint Salon is proud to offer Skin Peel Treaments, the AMESON Mesopeel Chemical Peels rejuvinate and freshen the appearance of the skin by removing the outer layers of dead skin to reveal new skin below.

They exfoliate the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new skin layer with improved tone, texture, and color. These used are primarily alpha and beta hydroxyacids. They include Mandelic, Salacylic, Lactic and Glycolic Acids. Skin Peels can combined with other treatments to provide Advanced Treatments including combined with Micro-Needling.

What are skin peels?

Skin peels are chemicals applied to the skin to aid in the removal of old skin layers to induce new skin production. They exfoliate the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new skin layer with improved tone, texture, and color. These are primarily alpha and beta hydroxyacids. They include Mandelic, Salacylic, Lactic and Glycolic Acids. Skin Peels can combined with other treatments to provide Advanced Treatments including combined with Micro-Needling. See our Specialty Treatments.

What issues are addressed?

Skin peels are primarily used for improvement of skin texture, pigmentation, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and can help improve skin tone. Regular treatments can help improve the appearance of scarring incl. acne scarring. They are most commonly used on the face but can also be used on the back, abdomen and chest to improve imperfections.

How quickly does it work and how long will it last?

Some of the effects of the peels can be seen immediately. There may be some erythema (redness) that usually subsides and is usually short lasting but may persist over the next 24 hours. You may experience some dryness as the skin sheds but using appropriate products will help in maximise the treatment. Over the following few days the skin will look fresh and rejuvinated.

AMESON MESOPEEL is a professional chemical peeling system based on organic acids, aimed at rejuvenating the skin and making it glowing, bright and soft.

Ameson MesoPeel

ACTION

Keratolytic effect, skin cell regeneration, reduction of fine lines and discolouration, tightening, glow enhancement

DESCRIPTION

Glycolic acid cleaves the bonds between keratinocytes on the horny layer and weakens the bonding properties of the lipids that retain the skin’s dead cells, thus removing them. This results in the immediate and intense exfoliation of the horny layer, and simultaneous regeneration of cells.
The systematic use of high concentrations of GLYCOLIC ACID interacts with the fibroblast receptors, thus significantly stimulating the production of intercellular material (collagen, elastin, fibronectin, hyaluronic acid). The skin is therefore rejuvenated and regenerated. The 50% concentration in glycolic acid, in combination with the pH, result in targeted actions and indication

ACTION

Keratolytic effect, skin cell regeneration, reduction of wrinkles, reduction of superficial acne scars and discolouration, tightening, glow enhancement

DESCRIPTION

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that is derived from sugar cane. It is one of the most popular anti-ageing active ingredients. Its small molecular structure – it has the smallest molecule of all alpha hydroxy acids – allows penetration into skin cells.
The 50% concentration in glycolic acid, in combination with the pH, result in targeted actions and indications.

ACTION

Mild keratolytic effect, hydration, skin cell regeneration, reduction of fine lines

DESCRIPTION

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that is derived from milk. As a result of its relatively greater molecular weight, its keratolytic action is milder
than that of glycolic acid, thus preventing skin irritations. When applied, lactic acid cleaves the bonds between keratinocytes on the external
layer, thus reducing them and leading to gradual regeneration.
This results in a mild but effective exfoliation of the horny layer and in the simultaneous regeneration of cells. It stimulates the production of collagen and glycosaminoglycans that make up the intercellular material. Another advantage provided by lactic acid is that it naturally hydrates the skin; this
action results in increased formation of ceramides, thus enhancing the function of the keratin barrier.
The combination of mild exfoliation, regeneration and hydration that it offers makes it an ideal peeling treatment for sensitive and dehydrated skins and a good choice for skins that undergo chemical peeling for the first time. The 50% concentration of lactic acid in combination with the pH result in targeted actions and indications.

ACTION

Mild keratolytic effect, skin cell regeneration, hydration, antimicrobial effect

DESCRIPTION

Mandelic acid is a member of the family of alpha hydroxy acids; its commercial name is revealing of its natural origin, as it is found in bitter almonds (mandel = almond), as well as in apricots and peaches. Mandelic acid normalises the keratinisation process and enhances skin exfoliation.
As a result of its macromolecular structure, it has a mild chemical peeling effect, which helps prevent irritations and makes it suitable for all skin types and all phototypes. It hydrates the skin, enhances cellular remodelling and reduces skin discolouration. Its antimicrobial action makes Mandelic acid ideal for fighting acne.

ACTION

Keratolytic, astringent and antimicrobial effect

DESCRIPTION

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that is derived from the bark of the willow tree and has a potent keratolytic action. It reduces the coherence of keratinocytes, thus cleaving the bonds between superficial cells. It enhances the exfoliation process, therefore removing superficial cells. It rejuvenates and revitalises the skin.
Its astringent, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties regulate sebum secretion and reduce the oiliness of oily-acneic skins.

ACTION

When applied to acneic skins, it has keratolytic, astringent and antimicrobial effects

DESCRIPTION

Mixture of salicylic and azelaic acid. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid with astringent and keratolytic properties.
Moreover, it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that regulate sebum secretion and reduce the oiliness of oily-acneic skins.
Azelaic acid is a dicarboxylic acid that is derived from cereals and has a significant effect against acne. More specifically, it has comedolytic, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial action effects (it neutralises Propionibacterium acnes of the pilosebaceous follicle) that help fight acne and pigmentation, thereby reducing discolouration and in particular brown spots due to acne.
